An important note about Generative AI
Eyelevel’s leadership believe that Generative AI is a tool that contradicts our mandate and organizational values in numerous ways. We do not use Generative AI (ChatGPT, Gemini, CoPilot, etc.) in our office. Each application is carefully reviewed in full by a staff member without the use of keyword searches or summarizing tools. While we cannot enforce this, we strongly discourage applicants from submitting cover letters and resumes written with Generative AI. These applications do not typically perform well in our job calls - we want to hear your unique voice and experiences! To protect Eyelevel’s intellectual property, we ask applicants not to feed our job calls into generative AI tools.

About Eyelevel
Eyelevel is an arts worker/artist-run organization mandated to present and support the development of socially relevant and thought-provoking artistic practices locally, regionally and nationally. Eyelevel supports artists through residencies, mentorship, publishing and presentation outside of a traditional gallery context that is accompanied by care-oriented and trauma-informed artistic, professional and personal support. Eyelevel aims to raise public awareness and capacity of our local arts community, particularly artists and arts workers who have been historically underserved and misrepresented in the contemporary art dialogue. Eyelevel strives to be a connector between artists, communities, and the broader public, to constantly question the balance of power and work against systemic oppression and discrimination by centring anti-violence and pro-survivor practices. Eyelevel works in treaty to build a more inclusive and caring world through art, and to advance positive change within the arts through its operations, policies and programming.
Access Notes
Eyelevel is committed to employment equity, and we welcome and encourage applications from those who self-identify as women, trans or gender diverse, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or Persons with Disabilities. Eyelevel is particularly encouraging of those who are typically under-represented in contemporary art and artist-run centre staff. Applicants are encouraged to consider how their lived experiences or work within their community create valuable skills for this position.
Eyelevel’s office is wheelchair accessible, and we offer a flexible work environment with negotiable hours and work-from-home options as needed. Our office is located at 2482 Maynard Street, a low-scent environment with non-gendered washrooms, artist studios, a quiet room, a shared kitchenette, and the community arts organization Wonder’neath. At Eyelevel, we seek to provide a safer work environment by maintaining active, evidence-based COVID-19 policies rooted in Disability Justice.
Eyelevel’s studios on Gottingen Street are only accessible by climbing a full flight of stairs (with a railing). On the first floor is a non-gendered bathroom, a small kitchen and five studios. Located up a spiral staircase with a railing are five more studios. Eyelevel is a tenant of Radstorm, a collective supporting artists, musicians and activists with meeting, event and production/rehearsal space. Please let us know any accessibility needs and/or allergies and sensitivities in your application.
