A message from Cameron

Kwe’, Good afternoon!
I just wanted to write a brief “Hello” to introduce myself to those I haven’t yet had the chance to meet! I’m sure we will all be chatting away around the office and communal events soon. I hope to get acquainted with as many folks in our shared spaces as possible over my time in this position.

Firstly, I wanted to thank everyone who helped facilitate my transition into this role. I’m grateful for the commitment to communications and opportunity provided by Eyelevel and Young Canada Works. I can’t wait to work with you all and see what we can create together :)

A bit about myself: I was born and raised predominantly around Punamu’kwati’jk (”Dartmouth”) and have been weaving through the local arts scene for as long as I can remember. My father’s side of the family comes from Ktaqmkuk/”Newfoundland,” and I am the first member of our lineage not to be born on the Island. Since my graduation from NSCAD University in December 2023, I have been making an effort to reconnect and develop a more intimate relationship with my Elders and local knowledge keepers. In my free time, I like to engage with decolonial theory, attend community events, and participate in mutual aid initiatives.

As a part of my role within Eyelevel, I will be taking on the position of Programming and Outreach Intern. This comes at the heels of Alek Green’s supervision of the role. Alek has very kindly compiled the tasks and documents which he had in-progress to ensure as smooth of a process as possible. If there are any impending tasks or helpful hints you think I should know, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Thank you for reading! I’m sure we will be in touch in some way or another very soon. I look forward to working with you.
Wela’lioq,
