The Eye Level exhibition featured three series of drawings executed since his arrival in Nova Scotia – the Halifax Prelude, a series of nine drawings begun when he arrived in Halifax in 1972 presents a personal key to the theories behind his work. This series was completed in 1976. Time Assassins is a series of twelve drawings where Metson’s philosophy is brought to the viewer. In his own words, “they are explorations into multi-dimensional nature of reality – going beyond the surface to discover knowledge. Surface is a trap that denies the essence of art”. This series was done in 1976-78.

The final series is Lamentations. Six drawings from this series will be exhibited. The exhibit at Nancy Poole’s Studio showed works from this series which includes sixteen drawings and three paintings.
