Granddaughters of the Corn
******
The collaboration of Marilyn Anderson and Johnathan Garlock, Granddaughters of the Corn combines engaging black and white photographic portraits of Mayan women in Guatemala with disturbing factual and first person accounts of the everyday reality for women in Guatemala today. The text accompanying the photographs defines, in human terms, the political and cultural situation in Guatemala, through the use of interviews, historical materials materials and statistics. Underlying all of this is the issue of the disappeared.
