Music Series

This event provides a rare opportunity to see a solely percussive band in Halifax. The band composed a highly skilled musicians features unusual and inventive use of Latin, Cubin, and Afro rhythms to create a vital and charged musical form. UMAYOK was headed by Michel and Marc Sequin, sons of Michel Sequin Sr. foremost percussionist of Montreal who performed throughout the sixties and seventies with Herbie Hancock, Weather Report, and Chick Corea. The trio was completed by Hans Longpres, a percussionist extensively trained in Latin and Cuban rhythms.
